We have always enjoyed watching TV, but when we started full-timing in our U300 in 2005, we really missed our big-screen. About six years ago we replaced the Foretravel’s original 20” CRT TV with a 27” Toshiba.

We accomplished this by removing the drawer and frame below the TV cavity and mounting the TV on the bottom side of the sliding floorboard. For viewing, it props against the front old TV cavity and wedges neatly under the sliding tray above. When traveling, we fold it away in the old drawer space. Space once taken by the old CRT TV now houses a multifunction printer/scanner and a DVD player, together with ample space for wire management.
A few days ago, the old Toshiba gave up the ghost. Fortunately, we happened to be at a Wal-Mart in Marshall, Texas. I’d been researching upgrades and found a 32” Samsung model that just fits in the available space. All we had to do was walk into the store and make the purchase. With a few modifications, we were able to use all of the old mounting hardware, which consisted of aluminum angle brackets, screws, bolts, washers, and wing nuts.

If your old Unihome needs a TV upgrade, consider making a few modifications between the front seats and picking up one of the new-generation ultra-compact 32” flat screens. Let me know if you’d like more details, and I’ll be happy to share my experiences.
