FOT installed a residential side by side unit for us recently in our 2001 U320 40′. It is a Frigidaire 22.6 c.f. counter depth model and David’s crew did a great job with the installation – it looks wonderful in the coach. The width is very close to the original Dometic unit – we lost the bottom cabinet but these rigs have so much storage in them who cares! The water/ice dispenser in the door is very handy and does not stick out in the hallway.
22.6 cu ft Side-by-Side Counter-Depth Refrigerator

When my 24 cu ft Samsung was installed by a very savvy shopper, it took a day and a half, between removing the window, for removal of old and inserting the new (new would not go thru the door) using a forklift, felt they did as good as could be done. built the 5″ stand for the pipes on the floor next to the outside wall, it fits snuggly. Replacing the window very properly. No damage to anything except the wallet.
As for electric power, it has the feature of simply turning off the auto defrost function to save energy during the night while on battery alone and all works great on the 2500 W inverter system.
The other good point of installation, behind the refrigerator, is two duplex outlets, 1 on the inverter, 1 that is not, simple choice.
The downside in my case, the freezer door is fine, but the refrigerator door will only open 90 deg due to hitting the sliding door track to the bathroom area, this is fine but can not remove the bottom drawers for hitting the door.
Cost Labor about $1,200.00 as I recall I think. Samsung $2,200.00, total about $3,400.00. Yes, I would do it again but with a slightly lower 5″ model. Otherwise, all is well and glad I did it, there may be a better choice (not as tall) for the 36′ coach.
Would use that shop again, located Bay City, on I-10 near east of Houston, contact was Rudy. FWIW Dave M 2001 U320 36′
