This is a whole house reverse osmosis water system installed in July 2010, in 1997 U295 36′. The hardware was purchased from the RV Water Filter Store. The installation was by the owner. The system uses two 75 gpd RO filters in series to increase the RO/effluent ratio. A pump also increases the water pressure in order to increase the efficiency and production rate of the system.
The RO system fit into the reel bay after I removed a drawer and shelf. The shroud is removed from the freshwater tank to allow the installation of the float switch and the RO water input. I replaced the shroud after the installation was complete.
The system comprises an input pump, a three-stage primary filter, a two-stage RO filter, a float switch, and a control relay/valve. When the system is plugged to 120VAC, the pump runs and boosts pressure for efficiency until the float valve indicates that the freshwater tank is full. When the tank is full, the float switch causes the control relay to shut down the pump and it closes a valve to stop input water.
This is a view of the input pump, 120VAC -> 24VAC transformer, and relay/valve to control input from the shore supply. I mounted the components on a piece of wood fabricated to hold the parts in a good relationship with each other. The wood is on rubber feet and rests near the back of the cabinet during normal use. The pump is on rubber mounts on the wood as well. The pump is very quiet. In operation, I can only hear the pump running from inside the coach if there are no other appliances running. If it is very quiet, I can hear the water trickling into the tank during the last part of the fill. That is when the water is above the slanted part of the tank, so that water falls directly on the water in the tank rather than running down the slope into to pool.
