PTL WIND NOISE ADJUSTMENTS

1) Determine where noise is coming from or what is creating the noise.

Example: awnings, window, screens, weep holes, mirrors, handles, any item hanging off the unit , open tubes under the front end and around door area, entrance door.

2) Take the unit for a ride, have someone listen to see where noise is coming from.

3) If noise is coming from the entrance door tape the leading edge of the door and see if the noise stops.

4) If noise lessens or stops remove sections of the tape until you locate the source.

5) If the entrance door is the source you must adjust the gap between the entrance door and the inside flange of the aluminum jamb.

6) To adjust the gap remove the screen by removing the eight-button head screws attaching the screen hinge to the door hinge.

7) With the screen door removed go inside the coach and close the door.

8) Measure gap between door and jamb, you should about 3/8” on the hinge side and about halfway across the top and bottom of the door, then taper it out to about 1/2″ on the latch side.

9) To adjust this gap use a pair of duckbill vise-grips or rubber mallet to bend flange in or out for proper adjustment.

10) If the door is not straight with coach wall you may have to bend door to match the coach wall, this is done by a special tool provided by P.T.L. ENGINEERING.

11) To make sure the door is latching properly push the door closed by hand, using about 50 lbs of pressure, you should hear two separate clicks from the latch when adjusted properly.

12) Adjust exterior pvc seal.

13) If needed install a wind deflector in front of the leading edge side of the jamb.
