The new regulator R213103450 has replaced the current regulator R213102200 in the Leece-Neville alternators that have A/C excite, to solve the high turn-on speed problem. The 102200 regulators will still be offered in the aftermarket through Leece-Neville.
When replacing regulator 102200 with the new regulator 103450 you can order kit number 103450S.
This Kit contains:
(1) 103450 – Regulator
(1) 101711 – Brush holder
(1) 79031 – Gasket
(4) 96668 – Mounting screw
(1) 95076 – Lead Assembly
(1) 95080 – Lead Assembly
(2) 77650 – Brushes
1. On an alternator, remove hardware from output studs and disconnect regulator lea (Fig. 1).
1a. Remove 3 alternators through bolts. Remove front housing from alternator by tapping front housing adjusting ear and mounting foot lightly.
1b. Remove three nuts holding stator to rear housing, then remove stator (Fig. 2a).
1c. Remove screws holding regulator sense leads (95076, 95080) to the rectifier.
1d. Remove positive and negative studs.
1e. Remove regulator/brush assembly from the alternator.
2. Assemble the leads to the 103450 regulators (Fig. 2b).
3. Assemble the regulator and leads to the brush holder, dress the leads grommet into the grommet slot of the holder (Fig.3).
Secure regulator with screws.
3a. Note: Use caution not to pinch red and black (95076, 95080) leads when routing through regulator brush bay slots.
4. Remove nuts (#2313) from the back of AC studs on old regulator/brush holder, remove studs from brush holders. Reassemble the AC studs to the new 103450 regulator/brush holder and tighten nuts.
4a. Install brushes. Make sure the metal pad goes in first.
Insert a pin to hold brushes in place.
5. Install the new regulator/brush holder assembly to the alternator.
5a. Reverse procedure in steps1d-1 to assemble alternator.
5b. Remove pin holding brushes.
6. Reassemble regulator leads (Fig.4).
